Thalu

Thalu is a 10 part live-action children’s fantasy television series, which was shot on the traditional land of the Ngarluma people in Western Australia’s Pilbara region. The series marks new ground as the first Indigenous children’s tv series in Australian history and intertwines Roebourne’s community stories and Ngarluma culture.

Weerianna Street Media’s production sees a group of Indigenous children undertake a journey to save their country from the threat of a mysterious dust cloud and it’s inhabitants, the Takers that lurk within. Throughout the episodes, the children have to make their way to Thalu, a place of great power to stop the cloud before it destroys everything in its path.

Boogie Monster worked closely with the producers during post production that included Visual Effects, Colour Grading, Mastering and Deliverables.

VFX R&D included particle simulation setups of the Thalu and Takers’ cloud were developed and executed in-house. The final episode’s climax involved creating a set of magical stones that create a powerful dust storm to take down the ever growing Takers’ cloud and reveal who was behind it.
